Start with the power cable installation

Dense cable routes, installation access and specification requirements all influence the restraint system. Bring the project details together before choosing a product.

Cable route & layout

Identify cable diameters, formation and the available space on the ladder or tray. Include new routes and any existing infrastructure.

Restraint requirements

Provide the specified fault level, restraint spacing and support details so the relevant product and test information can be reviewed.

Installation planning

Consider access around the cable run, the installation sequence and the tools required by the selected restraint system.

Project procurement

Send quantities, project location and timing to discuss product options, availability and a quotation.

BAND-FAST: an option for dense cable runs

Images: Band-It manufacturer photography. Product information

BAND-FAST cable cleats offer a compact, low-profile restraint with coated and uncoated options. Suitable configurations allow installation after cable pulling and attachment directly to compatible cable-ladder rungs.

Compare the product configuration, cable size, wrap and installation method against your project requirements.

Short-circuit performance depends on the specific product, cable formation, spacing and installation. Confirm the selected arrangement against the manufacturer’s test data and the project engineer’s specification.

BAND-FAST cable restraint specifications

BAND-FAST cable cleats are available in PPA-coated and uncoated 316 stainless steel. The table identifies the product families and installation arrangements listed in the BAND-FAST Cable Cleat Solutions Brochure; select the complete assembly against your project requirements.

Short-circuit performance is specific to the tested assembly. Match the product, cable formation, wrap count, restraint spacing, support and liner or bracket to the applicable test report. A product-family name or band dimension alone does not establish a fault-current rating.

Where cleats fit in a data centre

Focus the restraint review on exposed power routes between major electrical equipment and along cable ladders.

  1. Transformer
  2. Switchgear
  3. UPS
  4. Distribution

Transformer feeders, switchgear connections, UPS input/output and bypass routes are common places to assess cable restraint. Actual topology and support requirements vary by project.

Bring the selection inputs together

  • Cables: outside diameter, number of conductors, formation and jacket limitations.
  • Fault duty: the project engineer’s required peak kA, with RMS values identified separately.
  • Support: slotted or unslotted ladder, rung-slot dimensions, spacing, mounting method and tool access.
  • Complete assembly: band, clip, wrap count, liner or bracket, compatible tooling and installation procedure.
  • Delivery and records: quantities, project location, required dates, inspections and any specified installation records.

Questions before specifying cable restraint

What information is needed to select BAND-FAST for a data centre?

Provide the project fault duty, cable outside diameter and formation, tray or ladder arrangement, support and restraint spacing, and installation environment. Include the product reference, wrap, liner or bracket if already specified. UES Promura can help locate the relevant product documents and report for review against the project engineer's requirements.

Source: BAND-FAST Cable Cleat Solutions Brochure selection inputs (PDF, page 5). Send your project details.

Are peak kA and RMS kA interchangeable?

No. The laboratory reports record peak and RMS current separately, together with the duration, cable formation, spacing and test configuration. Identify which current quantity the project specification uses and match the complete test conditions. The guide to reading the report tables explains where these values appear.

Do the case-study quantities or delivery times apply to my project?

The published quantities and timings describe the manufacturer's named regional examples. Australian availability, lead time, staged delivery, tooling and installation support must be confirmed for your order. Include quantities, location and required dates when requesting a quotation.

Manufacturer-reported data centre projects

These examples come from BAND-IT IDEX's 2026 data centre case study. They describe projects in APAC and Western Europe. The customer and individual sites are unnamed in the source, and these examples are not presented as UES Promura installations in Australia.

APAC hyperscale campus

Project need: a multi-building expansion with a compressed construction schedule and staged material requirements.

Reported supply: 20,000 BAND-FAST cleats and two DT2000 Digital Banding Tools. BAND-IT dates the first shipment to December 2025, with remaining volume staged through 2026.

Reported outcome: the first lot arrived approximately three weeks after the initial purchase order. BAND-IT also reports simpler sizing work and daily installation-progress records using DT2000 data logs. These are the manufacturer's project observations; current supply timing and tool options require a quotation.

Read the APAC case study (PDF, page 3)

Western Europe multi-facility campus

Project need: dense tray installations and late specification changes from a restraint approach using separate rubber sleeves.

Reported supply: an on-site demonstration of PPA-coated BAND-FAST led to a call-off order for 24,000 pieces plus installation tools for the second half of the facility build.

Reported outcome: BAND-IT describes fewer selection and installation steps, with the lower-profile arrangement helping preserve tray space. The case study does not publish a project-specific fault-current test result or a measured installation-time comparison.
