Data centre cable restraint / Cable ladder restraint for data centre power cables
Plan the restraint around the cable route, ladder and installation sequence. BAND-FAST can be considered for compatible data-centre power-cable arrangements, with final selection tied to the complete assembly and its supporting evidence.
Start with the route and the power equipment
Transformer feeders, switchgear connections and UPS input, output or bypass routes are useful places to identify the exposed power cables that need a restraint review. Record each route separately: a product selected for one cable bundle or support arrangement does not automatically cover the next.
For an upgrade, include photographs and dimensions of the existing ladder, the available working space and the proposed cable layout. For a new build, use the installation drawings and cable schedule. UES Promura can use these details to locate the relevant product documents and discuss quantities and tooling.
Describe the support as well as the cable
| Information | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Cable outside diameter and formation | Identifies the bundle and arrangement to compare with the product and report. |
| Ladder rung and slot details | Distinguishes compatible direct-to-rung arrangements from installations needing a different support or mounting review. |
| Specified restraint spacing | Must be checked against the complete tested configuration. |
| Clearance and tool access | Affects whether the specified wrap, tensioning and clip-finishing procedure can be completed. |
Keep support spacing and restraint spacing clearly identified on the drawing. A photograph without dimensions or a generic ladder description is usually insufficient to establish the full arrangement.
Review the installation sequence
The manufacturer describes compatible BAND-FAST arrangements that can be fitted after cable pulling and attached directly to suitable ladder rungs. Confirm that the actual rung, formation, band and wrap method match that arrangement. This is a configuration-specific option, not a statement that every cable ladder or BAND-FAST family uses the same method.
Include the clip, any required liner or bracket, the installation tool and the finishing procedure in the component schedule. Compare the complete package when discussing conventional cleats and band-based restraint. Component counts or installation savings depend on the project being compared.
Prepare a project enquiry
Send the cable schedule, formation, ladder drawing or dimensions, the engineer’s required fault duty, proposed restraint centres, route quantities, project location and required dates. Identify peak and RMS current separately. Request the matching brochure arrangement and complete laboratory report for review against the project specification.
Use the product selector to capture the application, then review the installation tool comparison. The trefoil guide explains why cable formation remains part of the evidence.
Source documents and project support
This guide explains the selection questions using the existing source material, BAND-FAST Cable Cleat Solutions brochure (PDF) and laboratory report register. Read the complete documents for the exact product and arrangement. It introduces no new performance rating or installation approval.
